posted 10 Nov 2014, 01:40 by Cambridge EMS

The third seminar in our series will see art historian Hannah Williams, of St John's College, Oxford, discuss 'Enlightenment Miracles: Art, Religion, and Histories of Secularisation', with reference to Domenico Veneziano's A Miracle of St Zenobius (1442-48). Jean-François De Troy, Nicolas de Largillière and Jacques-Germain Soufflot all feature in this exploration of art and religion in the age of enlightenment, which forms part of Hannah's larger project on 'Painters and Parish Life' in the eighteenth century.

The seminar takes place at 2pm in the Latimer Room in Clare College's Old Court. Tea and coffee will be available. All welcome.

For those unable to attend, a short account of the paper will be available on this site following the seminar.
