The first seminar of this term - and the penultimate of the series - will be given by Mia Jackson, Curator of Collections at Audley End and Wrest Park and PhD candidate at Queen Mary University of London. Her object is a cabinet on stand attributed to André-Charles Boulle, and acquired by the Fitzwilliam in 2010. It has led a rich life, and has been modified according to changing taste. Mia will discuss this cabinet, cabinets in general - both furniture and collections, and the 'cabinet' of the cabinetmaker - Boulle's own collection, and how it informed his work. And as an added bonus, the seminar will take place in front of the cabinet itself.

The seminar takes place at 2pm in the Flowers Gallery of the Fitzwilliam - PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE. All welcome.

For those unable to attend, a short account of the paper will be available on this site following the seminar.
