The programme for 2014-15 kicks off with a seminar by Michel Jeanneret, Honorary Professor at the University of Geneva. His paper, 'De la nécessité du rire: poètes bouffons du XVIIe siècle', uses Jacques Callot's Vue du Pont-Neuf (c.1630-35) to take us into a seventeenth-century world of carnivals, comic writers and bohemians, and to a meeting with Molière himself.

We are delighted to announce that Vue du Pont-Neuf and a number of other Callot prints will be on display during the seminar, which takes place at 2pm in the Graham Robertson Study Room at the Fitzwilliam Museum. All welcome.

For those unable to attend, a short account of the paper will be available on this site following the seminar.
