31 October, Joseph Harris

posted 25 Oct 2014, 06:57 by Cambridge EMS

Our second speaker this term is Joseph Harris, of Royal Holloway, University of London. Beginning from John Everett Millais's 1860 engraving Last Words, he will consider 'Corneille's (Un)natural Deaths': those occasional times in the dramatist's work when characters 'just die' (of grief or illness), rather than dying at someone's hand.

This week we will meet in the Latimer Room in Clare College's Old Court. The seminar begins at 2pm, and tea and coffee will be available. All welcome.

For those unable to attend, a short account of the paper will be available on this site following the seminar.
